Herald Games!
Dec. 7th, 2011 03:55 pmI'm insanely busy at work, have a pile of submissions in progress on my desk the length of my arm, and haven't quite finished Christmas shopping. But I also have this idea for a herald game I want to try out.
Using only the following listed resources, how many character names from the Harry Potter books can you document by January 1, 2012?
Your permitted resources:
All books in the current Appendix H (http://heraldry.sca.org/laurel/admin.html#APPENDIXH)
All articles found here: http://heraldry.sca.org/laurel/names.html
All LoARs and Cover Letters
All articles found here: http://www.s-gabriel.org/names/
The Encyclopedia Britannica
British History Online: http://www.british-history.ac.uk/
The extracted records from the International Geneology Index (IGI) Parish Records:http://www.ancestor-search.info/SRC-IGI.htm
(Edelweiss's excellent program for running searches can be found here: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/nmfadams/Edelweiss/IGI_Deliverable.zip.
In other words, things that would be permitted as documentation and available to the average submissions herald.
Contestants will be judged on how many names they can document and the quality of the documentation. Conflicts checking the names under the current Rules will get you extra credit.
Winners will get some sort of prize, probably in the form of something yummy to eat or drink. And oh yeah, I might drag you into Court at 12th Night to announce the winner. ;-)
PS: Entries should go to elmet@eastkingdom.org
