In a weekend that gives us a remake of "21 Jump Street," a movie simply made for laconic mockery, the best the NY Times blurb people can do is this, from the review of an all-Spanish language Will Ferrell movie:
“Casa de Mi Padre” is rated R (Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian). Bloody gun violence, hard drugs, soft women.
Oh NY Times, how you disappoint me so. Although, to be fair, even Roger "Frickin' National Treasure" Ebert is hard-pressed to muster truly biting snark about this weekend's movie offerings. When the worst thing he can say about a Will Ferrell movie is, "essentially I didn't enjoy it, but maybe the target audience will" (paraphrase, not a quote), it's a depressing start to the weekend.
