I'm surrounded by cat people

Surrounded, I tell you.  Yes, they have taught me to appreciate the good qualities of cats.  I concede that cats are cute and do amusing things.  But really, the dogs need some lovin' too.    

Personally, I love German Shepherds.  We had both a pure breed and a Shepherd-Old English Sheepdog mutt when I was growing up.  They are smart, empathic, wonderful dogs with deep and distinct personalities.  I would love to have one now, except I don't have the time in my life to devote to giving this kind of dog the necessary care and attention.  Bored German Shepherds are a menace to world peace.

So, share the Shepherd love with me for a bit:

I have a white German Shepherd. She is all the things you mention and great with my daughter too. If you ever need a Shepherd fix just let me know and I'll introduce you to Aspen.

I grew up with a slightly insane border collie (yes I know that statement is redundant if you know BC's). Yes, for as long as you've know me I have been a cat person but I would also love to be a dog person if the other occupants of my house wouldn't mind.

I like to think I'm just an animal person (you never did get to meet my pet rat) but I embrace the contradictions between my husband and myself everyday. It's either that or strangle him.

I always said if I was to get a dog, it would be a German Shepherd. I would totally get a dog if A) the girls wouldn't explode and B) we were able to give the dog the attention he/she needed.

I know you will be amused, but I grew up as a child with dogs. We always had a dog from when I was a small child and the last one we had looked like the last photo. Dogs are cute. I wish I wasn't so damn allergic to them. The reluctance to play with them is knowing the consequences.

I'm allergic to my cats, but that doesn't stop me. (Actually, I acclimate to them very quickly these days - only took a few days for the new kitten to stop triggering the asthma. Thank goodness for allergy shots! They're working, which is fantastic.)

I know my dog is little, and nuts, but I love him to death, and he would do anything to protect me and my kids. I just think that absolute loyalty is such a great quality that dogs have.

And you are welcome to a fix whenever you need one. Although right now he desperately needs a bath. Phew. ;)
