The morning is going to be dedicated to getting dug out from the snow, so I am jumping the gun a little on the next song.  Because of that, it's another multi-song day:

First, something secular and relatively well-known:

Out of all the reindeers
You know he's the mastermind

Kudos to [livejournal.com profile] ownedbytwins  for identifying this one.  The song is variously known as "Run Run Rudolph" or "Run Rudolph Run," and I was accepting either one as correct.

Second, something a little less well known:

From the Eastern kingdoms
Come the wise men far.
Bearing ancient treasure,
Following yonder star.

A big congratz to [livejournal.com profile] rlg  for correctly naming this tune as "We Three Kings"

Third, something out and out obscure for the early music buffs:

Tydynges trew ther be cum new, sent frome the Trinite,
Be Gabriel to Nazaret, cite of Galile;
A clene mayden and pure virgyn thorow hyre humilite
Conceyvid the secund person in divinite

I don't have a specific guess, but am curious. Is the third song from the 14th century, right around the time of Jeff ;-) Chaucer?

My source book says "Song #65, printed verbatim from a manuscript probably owned by a professional musician, and apparently written in the latter half of the fifteenth century, circa 1471-1485"

Is the first one called Run, Run Rudolph?

Very good! I was beginning to think I had stumped people with a song written within the last 75 years.

The song is variously known as "Run Run Rudolph" or "Run Rudolph Run," and I'm taking either as the right answer.

I was a bit stumped because the quote was so short - usually when I read the quote I hear the rhythm of the song in my head, and this quote was too short to get into... I guess my subconscious worked on it while I was running errands this morning, though. :)
