One of my favorite little bits of knowledge, is that the fellow who first wrote down this song, also "wrote" a book on period table service. I have a copy of his book in the bookcase in my bedroom. :-)
I don't celebrate Christmas, and am remarkably weak on most of the songs. But the Carolingian Jongleurs taught me quite a few period ones. I probably shan't be able to play again in your annual meme. :-)
