Today, my 20-year old microwave finally breathed its last.  Anyone have any suggestions for good brands/models while I shop for a new one?

Honestly at this point I think these things don't come in "good" or "bad" just cheap.

They can make one for $50 that you have to replace in a year that they make $10 profit on, or they can make one for $100 that you have to replace in a decade that they make $20 profit on.

This is why all you can find any more is cheap breaks-in-a-year crap.

Mhmm. Our 20+ year old microwave is still working fine, only reason we've ever had new microwaves is because one came with the new house and I needed one for my dorm room. Doesn't seem like a profitable market unless you purposely sell junk.

LP makes a perfectly good and serviceable microwave.

Ours died last year. I ended up getting us a GE microwave from Home Despot. So far, it's been reliable and incredibly quiet too.
