Beowulf - period

Culann - unsure

Corwyn or Corwin - period

Cedric - want to say period but somehow doubt it is.

Mongo - not period

because it's so off the wall, I'll take a guess that Mongo is period

Beowulf, yes, but possibly not used outside the tale
Culann, yes
Corwyn ... no
Cedric .... No.

But other than Beowulf, I'm guessing

The name Beowulf, coming from a period literary source, is certainly documentable. The question is whether the CoA would allow you to use it - that whole 'historic personage' rule. I don't know whether it was ever used with a byname in period - if so, it would certainly be acceptable.

Cedric - definitely post-period - Walter Scott couldn't spell - proper period would be Cerdic - and while documentable, you might run into the same case as above.

I don't know on the others - Corwyn is doubtful but could be a later form of something documentable in period.

I'm not sure I should play along. I know a little more than the average bear, I think. Or at least where to look. I'll let the youngins play. :)

Give the non-heralds and young'uns 24 hours, then it's open season.
