The case I'm working on has blown up big time. The deposition of one of the most important witnesses is scheduled for the week of August 14th. And thus, there is no Pennsic for me.

:-(

Edited to add: No, going out for the first week is not an option because the week before the deposition is when you prepare for taking the deposition.

Big, fat, suckage. Sorry.

Perhaps the retainer can pay for you and husband to take a fabulous trip some other time, though.... One hopes.

You seem to be under the mistaken impression that they pay me more for this sort of thing. I'm just a wage slave.

I am under the, hopefully accurate, impression that as a full time litigation attorney - you make a whole lot more money than most of us do.

It is my observation that, if one works in a services based job, the higher the pay, the more they think they get any part of your life they wish.

This seems to have happened earlier than usual this year.

I am sad.

You know, one of my quirkier Pennsic memories is Pennsic XXV, back before *everyone* had cell phones, and you had to do a conference with a judge on the top of the EK Royal Walls.

sadness

Sorry to hear this.

For what it is worth, it's a questionable thing for me as well. I have to talk to my boss in the next week. The move of our data center may not have finished by then, and it's one of the biggest projects and priorities for my department for the year. I guess I will know in a week or two, I sympathize though.

Seems I likely won't go either, we can try to have our own Pennsic pity party, where we get to wear our heraldic sideless surcotes, and drink of course.
Whaddayasay?
*hugs*

I want pictures of you drinking in heraldic sideless surcotes. That would be awesome. :)

And joining the Greek Choir of Disgust... teh suck, it is teh suck. I'm hoping for a suddenly swift trial end. :) [Rolls d7 for saving throw against improbability]

Oh we aren't even at the trial phase yet. This is still pre-trial discovery. We spent a year and a half reviewing over 1,000 boxes of documents and now we get to ask witnesses about the documents and anything else they might know. 68 witnesses in 6 months. It's not so much litigation as an endurance trial.

So what kind of atourney are you anyway???...ever think of switching to a law field with a more dependable schedule/less paperwork...or do you like what you do?

::hugs:: and I'm very sorry to hear that you can't go to Pennsic...

I sue insurance companies on behalf of large corporate policyholders, in order to compel the insurance companies to pay claims. Yes, it is exactly as dull as it sounds.

I am genuinely sorry about the deposition and missing pennsic. Anyone you'd like me to try to kill for you?

and now something to make you smile:
