Inspired by Liam

Liam kicked off Babylon 5 memories.  It was a series with many flaws -- not least of which was the acting by some of the minor and not so minor characters -- but with so many spectacular moments that you forgave the flaws.

I give you one of my favorite moments: G'Kar's words when he learns that the Centauri have invaded and conquered Narn (again) and that he has been removed as Narn's representative:

No dictator, no invader, can hold an imprisoned population by the force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against that power governments, and tyrants, and armies can not stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

My favorite Bab5 moment? That's hard... but I'll pick Ivanova's quote:

"This is the White Star Fleet. Negative on surrender...we will not stand down."
"Who is this? Identify yourself."
"Who am I? I am Susan Ivanova, Commander, daughter of Andrei and Sophie Ivanov. I am the right hand of vengeance, and the boot that is going to kick your sorry ass all the way back to Earth ... I am Death incarnate, and the last living thing that you are ever going to see. God sent me."

Absolutely... but it fit her character. And it goes well with a quote from earlier in the series:
"Ivanova is always right. I will listen to Ivanova. I will not ignore Ivanova's recommendations. Ivanova is God. And if this ever happens again, Ivanova will personally rip your lungs out.' Babylon Control out... [click. sighs.] Civilians! [Looks up] I was just kidding about the God part...no offense."

Her intensity amuses me... "Our gunner arrays are now fixed on your ship. They will fire the instant you come into range. You will find their power most impressive, for a few seconds."

The season title of season 4 "No Surrender, No Retreat" is my personal motto in the SCA. I've yet to get a full satisfactory Latin translation of it.
