Jul. 11th, 2011 10:47 am56. The Bone Collector by Jeffrey Deaver
Before forensic shows were all over the television, there were Jeffrey Deaver's novels about Lincoln Rhyme, quadriplegic forensic crime scene analyst, and his merry band of helpers. The Bone Collector is the first in the series. Deaver spends a lot of time explaining forensic concepts that even the most casual TV viewer now understands - fortunately, these discussions are skippable. Rhyme is an ornery character; his primary assistant/foil Amelia Sachs is equally flawed. The crime was interesting, and I did not figure out the solution a hundred pages before the heroes did. It was a good, solid read, and interesting enough that I just downloaded two more Lincoln Rhyme novels (there are 9 in all).
