Pennsic Scroll Texts

This one was a special commission for a friend; he had received his White Scarf several years ago  but had never gotten a scroll.  The text is somewhat loosely based on the Edict of Nantes:

Rurik Rex and Elsbeth Regina, to all present and future, greetings. Whereas, the Sylvan Crowns of Aethelmearc have descended unto us by operation of established law, ancient custom and noble tradition; and wherefore the same established law, ancient custom and noble tradition enjoins us to render justice, both high and low, unto the people of Aethelmearc; and wherefore we likewise possess the singular and lawful authority to acknowledge the good works and valiant deeds of those who serve the Sylvan Kingdom; and having heard good report and gained certain knowledge of the deeds at arms of our subject Eric Grenier de la Barre, and of his valor in service to Crown and Kingdom; and finding it just, right, fitting and proper that a man of such valor and puissance be acknowledged and elevated in accordance with the most ancient customs of the realm; therefore we do now give, grant and by the present charter confirm unto the aforesaid Eric the status, station and title of the Order of the White Scarf, along with such emblems, signs and appurtenances as custom decrees. We do further, by our especial grace, certain science and merest motion, grant unto the aforesaid Eric the following arms and instruct him to bear and display the same as befits his elevated station: Per bend purpure and sable, three fleur-de-lis one and two and a gryphon segreant within a bordure argent. That this edict may remain perpetual and irrevocable, we have strengthened it with our signatures and caused it to be presented and published before witnesses. By our hand, 8 February, in the thirty-seventh year of the Society.

I know that this AoA went out at Pennsic.  I'm not sure about the other scroll (a Silver Crescent) that I did wording for, though.  Anyone know?

 

By the force of these present letters, invoking the plenitude of our powers, We do hereby command, instruct and ordain that Ryan of Gryphonwald be and hereby is awarded Arms in due and proper acknowledgement of his many labors in service of our Barony of Settmour Swamp, and we do further command and instruct the aforesaid Ryan to consult with the heralds to determine such arms as may be just, fitting, due and proper for a man of his station.  Approved and ratified under the greal seal by the hands of Lucan the King and Jana the Queen, upon the fields of Pennsic in the forty-sixth year of the Society, with warning of the pains for those acting to the contrary.

The Silver Crescent did go out. evilnicola and I were next to each other, listening to the scroll, and we both went, "Alys? Adhemar? ....nope, definitely Alys."

Then I will post it when I get home. Having had to read quite a few of Adhemar's texts, I think I am more user-friendly than Adhemar -- I use punctuation!

Did I remember to tell you that the AoA you wrote a text for, for EKWP finally got to the recipient?
She received it at a local practice and seemed pretty happy from the email I got :)
