King's and Queen's Rattan Champions Scrolls

Gregor, King of the East, lord of Tir Mara, always august, to Edward Grey of Lochleven, right trusty and well-beloved, we greet you oft times well.  Forasmuch as the practice of arms is universally acknowledged to be a certain sign of nobility and the true exercise of honorable and upright men, and forasmuch as you have, upon this 8th day of October, being Saint Flavian’s day, in the forty-sixth year of the Society, taken the field among a numerous multitude of dukes, counts, peers, barons, magnates, nobles and citizens and proven yourself by force of arms to be foremost among them, and forasmuch as we wish to make a perpetual memorial of your deeds against the passing memory of men, and for the knowledge of future generations yet unborn, THEREFORE by the present Royal and ever valid edict, we do sanction of certain knowledge and from the plenitude of the Royal power that you shall be and hereby are invested with the title, renown and authority of King’s Champion of Arms, to exercise such rights and privileges as attend thereon for the period of one year in accordance with the ancient custom of the realm.  This we have done in our solemn court, from the fullness of our Royal power, sitting on our throne in the Shire of Glenn Linn, upon the date aforesaid.


I admit that this one I completely made up out of whole cloth, in the style of the documents from the signets of Henry V and Henry VI

In cuius rei testimonium presentibus signetum nostrum fecimus apponere.  Datum anno societatis quadragesimo sexto anno regni metuendissimi Domini mei regis Gregori Tertii primo
 
Kiena, by grace Queen of the Easterners and lady of Tir Mara, to all whom the present letters shall come, health. Know you that we, on the 8th day of October, at Glenn Linn, received fealty of our dearly beloved Culen mac Ciannan for service as champion, to serve in the aforesaid office of champion for one year according to the ancient and honourable custom of the realm. In testimony whereof we have caused our signet to be put to these presents.  Given in the forty-sixth year of the society, in the year of the reign of my most dread lord King Gregor the Third, the first.

The text of the King's Champion scroll may be made from whole cloth, but I really think you caught the spirit and style of the originals. It reads right for the subject of the scroll, for the monarch who granted it, and for the champion who received it. Very cool.
