Just pointing out . . .

Keep in mind that I don't always get to do wording for scrolls that I might want to, and sometimes I do wording for people I've never even met just to help out the scribe. I try to be on top of who is on the pollings and ask the Tyger Clerk to do words for my friends, but even so I don't always know that someone is getting an award sufficiently ahead of time. Plus, some scribes flee from my texts as "too complicated." So not getting a text by me doesn't mean you're not worthy - sometimes things just don't work out.
If you really really really want a "Text by Mistress Alys Mackyntoich" production number, this is something you should let lots of people know. That increases the chance that someone will know to ask the Tyger Clerk or the scribe to get in touch with me.
There are also lots of other people doing excellent work with wording. I'm just pushy and easily bored ;-)
And yes, I will be teaching the "Adapting Medieval Legal Documents" class at All Things Scribal.

Date: 2011-10-17 09:42 pm (UTC)This is the ultimate compliment from people. I knew that my art had reached a nice point when people starting saying that they would love to get one of my pieces for a scroll. It is a lovely way of saying "I love your work". :-)

Date: 2011-10-18 03:25 am (UTC)Alys wordings are wonderful in their own right, and are great for specific styles - much like Toki's and Grimm's Viking verse works great on others, and Aneleda's historic poetry stylings / songs are excellent for other occasions. Sometimes I even go back to my old self, and do my own words like I did for Alysten's Seamstress scroll, or I may filk a bardic friend's own song (like I did for Gav's Troubador scroll, way back when).
While I have my favorite authors, and I've been fortunate enough to receive a handful of scrolls over the years, if I am ever so blessed again to receive another, I would prefer humorous wording. I'm not saying all scrolls should be like this - just any scroll intended for me, if it ever happens again.
