Something non-traditional today:

(1)  A very merry Christmas
     And a happy New Year
     Let's hope it's a good one
     Without any fear

(2)  And I would hang up my stocking at Christmas
Open my presents and I'd be glad

(1) Merry Xmas (War is Over) by John Lennon and (2) "Father Christmas" by the Kinks

the first song is now blaring in my head (tho i never knew the title of it... is it "So This Is Christmas?") sorry, but gonna have to go find some other selection to purge it...

second is unfamiliar... all i can hear is the first one... ~whimper~

Ooooh... #2... is it the one by Emerson Lake and Palmer? I don't know it well enough to be sure, just a vague suggestion of a tune in my head right now.

I *thought* about using the ELP song, but decided it was too obscure. I'm not sure how many other people share my affection for late 1970s/early 1980s British prog rock.

That doesn't help because (a) there are lots of British bands and (b) I tend to avoid Christmas pop music like the plague.

It's not "pop music" except in the broadest definition of the term. It's good old fashioned rock and roll.

1 - The Beatles? Title something like "And so it is Christmas"?

Well, you have the lead singer right. Think post-1971 . . .

I didn't get either, but now remember number 1 from Lennon "And so this is Christmas".

Keep doing this, it is getting me in the right mood.
