Edward, by grace King of the East, and Thyra, his Queen, to all and sundry to whom this document shall come, greetings. Know you that We, with good consultation and digest advisement and diligent inquisition, are perfectly informed of the skill in the art of the rapier demonstrated by our subject Elysabeth Underhill and understand that she has endangered her own body in the defence of the East Kingdom and for the preservation of our said realm, dominions, subjects and lieges thereof from utter extermination, to our public benefit, utility and profit; in recognition thereof, and of the true service done to Us by the said Elysabeth, We do now instruct our heralds to list her name in the rolls of the Order of the Silver Rapier and do further endow the said Elysabeth with all rights, privileges, signs and emblems appertaining to the aforesaid Order, not least of which being the right to display the badge thereof: Azure, a rapier inverted and an orle argent. For the more certain corroboration of the same, in witness of which, we have caused these words to be subscribed and signed with our hand at Rusted Woodlands, 17 November A.S. 47.
