Collin Ursell's Silver Crescent Scroll
Feb. 4th, 2013 05:54 pmIt is to be noted and retained in memory that when the Edward the King, second of that name, and Thyra his Queen, were for a time in Carolingia, they summoned before them Collin Ursell, to whom the Queen gave great thanks because of the not inconsiderable love she had for the practice of archery, and the King and Queen both did beseech the said Collin with many prayers that he would carry further the good which he had begun with his many fine and notable labors on behalf of archery within the Realm and at the Pennsic War. Thereupon, Edward the King and Thyra the Queen did order, instruct and command that the name of Collin Ursell be writ upon the lists of the Order of the Silver Crescent, and that the said Collin should thereafter and in perpetuity bear upon his person the seal, sign and emblem of the aforesaid Order. This command was given at Carolingia upon 2 February, A.S. 47, before witnesses in the court of their Majesties Edward and Thyra.
