Name That Holiday Tune, day 3

As promised, I have both a Hannukah tune and a Christmas tune today:

(1)  Don't let the light go out!

It's lasted for so many years!

Peter, Paul and Mary: "Light One Candle".

I've always been of mixed mind about this song. As good as it is, the essential story of Hannukkah isn't really about peace.

The Maccabees fought for survival, captured Jerusalem, then created an expansionist multi-generational dynasty (Hasmonian Dynasty). During their expansion, they had no problem killing non-Jews or Jews of other sects.

Peter Yarrow is a beautiful singer-songwriter, and I deeply admire his belief in peace.

I love "We Need A Little Christmas" for its nostalgic quality. The semi apologetic tone for starting the Christmas season too early... But we need cheering up.

"I may be rushing things, but, deck the halls".

(My chorus is performing this song again this year.)
