lumineaux: AlysBear (Bees)
[personal profile] lumineaux
I stopped at Barnes & Noble today on the way home from visiting my grandfather in the hospital.  While there, I had occasion to use the ladies' room.  There was graffiti on the stall wall - but not the usual juvenile nonsense.  Someone (well, several someones apparently) had taken the time to write lengthy diatribes pro and con the war in Iraq on a bathroom wall in the ladies room.  The discourse wasn't too bad, either.  More informed than several TV "commentators" I could name.

The new user pic is from my cache of pre-Raphaelite clip art.  When I first glanced at the whole painting, it looked very cheerful and spring like.  Check it out here: http://www.artmagick.com/archive/artists/hacker/pic/10013.aspx
But look more closely at the woman's face.  What is her mood supposed to be? Is she sad?  Contemplative?

Also think about the title of this work of art..."the drone"

If you follow her line of sight (in the full painting), you can see that she's looking at a bee. I think that's the drone in question.

It says to me, 'what am I doing in this life?'

The word that comes to mind for that look is melancholy.

She's dead. Someone just propped her up for the painting.

(Happy Spring!)

Nope, I'm wrong. It's just some tall porcelain doll. :)

I'd say contemplative.

She's either pensive, or she tried some of them odd mushrooms.
